......Hello Orlando

I have arrived in Orlando. It has been a busy few days settling into my new home here. Monday was a crazy day. I was running on very little sleep as I couldn't seem to get comfortable on the flights. When I arrived into Orlando, my friend and I headed straight to the transportation area to catch our bus to our apartment complex. We arrived at "The Commons" (our housing complex) at 1pm. We were lucky they allowed us to check in right away. At this time, I found out that my friend Gabby and I would both be living in apartment #427. We are living in a 4 bedroom, 8 people apartment. There were 2 empty beds in 2 separate rooms. I got into my room and started to look around to figure out what I needed.  After about 2 hours of being in our apartment and meeting 2 of our roommates, we headed to Wal-Mart. Once we arrived, we starting picking up the necessities that we needed right. This Wal-Mart trip quickly became very overwhelming. I never realized how much energy and thinking it takes to ensure that I got everything I needed to set my self up for my time here. After spending a long time in Wal-Mart, we caught an Uber and headed back to the Commons. The Uber was very good. I quite like the service and I will be using it again when I need to get around in Orlando. It is really hard to not have my car to just get in and drive around in whenever I want.

Just a little bit about my roommates. I have 6 other roommates not including my friend Gabby. Heather is one of my roommates. She is the other Canadian and is from Alberta. She works at Epcot centre in the Canada Pavillion. Katie is my American roommate and she is born and raised in Florida. She is in Disney’s Culinary program and has 1 month left. She is super nice and chatty too. My roommate who I share a room with is from Italy. Her name is Giulia and she also works in Epcot. Chorouk is from Morocco and she also works in epcot. We have 2 other roommates’ named Joanna and Jemma. I haven’t gotten to know the to much yet

On Tuesday I had my welcome meeting. At this meeting, they go over expectations and important information about security, transportation and up keep of the apartments. After the meeting, my friends and I went resort hopping. As we will not be getting our ID’s until tomorrow, we are not able to enter the parks for free. We visited the Contemporary, Polynesian, and Grand Floridian resorts. All of them are quite unique and have different themes. The grand Floridian is the busiest resort as everyone wants to stay there. It is gorgeous inside and I have never seen a resort quite like it. After that we used the Disney monorail system and went to magic kingdom to catch a bus to the Art of Animation resort. As we were walking thundershowers started and we got drenched from head to toe. We decided to continue on our journey and not return back home. What an experience in the rain. I hope I never get stuck in a rainstorm again. I hated the feeling of my clothes sticking to me. We then visited the Art of Animation and Pop Culture resorts. They are very unique and it was great exploring them with my friends. We headed home and I continued to get myself all moved in.

Today I had another meeting, which is where I found out that I will be working in Hollywood Studios. As I am doing a role rotation, I will be starting in Quick food and beverage for my first 3 months. I am quite excited to find out more about my exact role and location. After that meeting, Gabby and I headed to the super target. Super target is like Wal-mart super centre. The place is huge and we got lost in the store looking around. Once we got home we made some dinner. Our roommate is also having her friends over for her birthday so we also chatted with them.

That's it for today. I am sorry this post isn’t going to be as good as my other blogs have been but I wanted to write this before I went to bed. I have an early morning tomorrow and was hoping to be asleep by now. So I gotta run but look forward to updating you again on Sunday.

Xoxo

Michelle
